Stop the waste

stop-the-wasteWe shower 7 times more often today than we did fifty years ago. As long as we take access to water for granted, it will be difficult to change our behaviour. Reducing consumption requires good ideas, such as a shower that is as enjoyable as an ordinary shower but halves consumption.

Use Only What You Need

We are in the midst of a world wide water crisis. This crisis has not been brought on by a shortage of water, but rather by our inability to manage our waterconsumption so badly the environment along with billions of people are suffering. Water shortage has less to do with climate change, and more with population growth and water maintenance inefficiency.

Taking water from rivers and groundwater sources is not a sustainable option. These systems are not easily replenished and support very delicate eco systems. The processing of water; heating it, pumping it, chemically treating and processing waste water requires enormous amount of energy.

It is recognised globally that there is a crisis looming, and unlike a financial crisis, water bankruptcy is irreversible.

The solution is to use only what you need and then use it more effectively.

"The wise use of water is essential, not only to meet present needs, but in order to ensure that we do not compromise the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." - The Environment Agency

Altered user behaviour can reduce tap and bathroom consumption, but shower consumption is dependant on flow rate and flow rate effectiveness.

Everybody knows the value of water.

  • There are 6 billion people in the world today . Nearly half live in water stressed areas. Ten years will see the grain crop contract by one third from lack of water.
  • Western Europeans consume on average 150 litres per dayand person within the household alone. Sustainable targets are almost half, 80 litres.
  • Heating water for personal washing will consume the bulk of every day energy as households reach the energy efficient optimum. The Energy Savings Trust estimate this figure will be 70% of household energy for heating water alone.
  • 54% believe the worlds water resources will be in crisis before a global oil crisis becomes a reality.
