Because the design does not have a multitude of outlet holes or sieve plate with rubber nipples but one single outlet point there is a fraction of the surface area for biofilm to develop.

At a flow rate option of 6 litres per minute - constant, there is a saving of 50 to 70 % on an average flow and 20 to 40 % on the leading ECO Shower brands. A flow rate of 9 litres per minute  is equivalent in effectiveness and comfort to that of a standard head at 19 litres per minute flowrate.
